Lake Buchanan is an artificial lake formed by the construction of Buchanan Dam by the Lower Colorado River Authority to provide a water supply for the region and to provide hydroelectric power. The surface of the lake includes area in both Burnet and Llano Counties.
Lake Buchanan is the second largest of the Highland Lakes in Central Texas. Very peaceful lake with beautiful sunrise and sunset! It’s a nice place to go kayaking and great for fishing and water sports.
Several species of fish has been stocked in the lake. Fish present in Lake Buchanan include largemouth bass, catfish, white bass, and striped bass.
